I am going to London for a vacation.
I want to spend a lot of time painting in London.

I do not have a good method for painting.

Is is what I do.
A thumbnail for composition and values.
A 'full' pencil sketch to get the detailed composition.
A loose pencil sketch on the paper.
Block the main areas with staining paints.
Highlights and shading with transparent and granulating paints.
Then finish with the most opaque paints.

I use mainly 10 x 7 paper.

Could you send me suggestions and feedback.

Also I am buying paper.
Saunders 140 rough and CP.
Should I buy full sheets, or get them cut in to 1/2 or 1/4?
Bockingford is much less expensive, is it worth my while to also buy for 'practice'?

Get Arches 400# and cut it up yourself. It's the best buy for good paper and you want good paper.
Don't use white or black paint, wash the paper before you draw on it.
Mark your center line and horizon line. The bottom of your view should to top of your paper. Draw with only one eye. Use a 2H pencil. Use pattern outlines in your drawing. Wetted pencil lines can't be ereased.

We will get into liner triangularation when you get back, have a nice trip.
