The warm weather has arrived and it's time to get out and paint! Today our little plein air group went to a beautiful place called Fuller Gardens in Rye, NH. The site is a historic preservation of the gardens constructed by former NH Governor Alvin Fuller back in the 1920s at his residence.
I used a controlled palette for unity: burnt umber, hooker's green, chromium oxide green, cobalt blue, alizarin crimson, cad yellow medium, naples yellow, and white. What a pleasure getting back outside after a long cold winter! |

Hi Sharon,
Yes the nice weather is a blessing. This week I left Maui to visit the East Coast, NJ and NY. I'll be painting a fresco in Upper NY for a few months. I brought my acrylics also, and a couple of panels because I heard there were a lot of flowers that I haven't seen in a long time. I left NJ almost 30 years ago. I was here two years ago and painted this from my cousin's Mexico, NY backyard. I guess acrylics are my all around favorite medium. Looks as if you may enjoy them also. I hope you put checks in Notifie of Replies for this Topic, and Notify of New Topics on the Home page. Thanks for posting you're painting. ontario1barnday6sm.jpg (Attachment deleted)

Good grief - YOU are from NJ too? What town? Seems everyone I meet lately is FROM NJ (the lucky ones get to escape! LOL). This morning while "Gallery sitting" I met an older member of SAA who I hadn't met before - turns out he was born & raised in Clifton!
I was born & raised in Bayonne. Sharon |

Trenton - escape a good choice! LOL
Enjoy New York - that's a nice area up there. Unfortunately, the weather's not looking too good for this week. I love the barn painting, vibrant but soft at the same time and beautifully rendered. I hope you'll share pictures of the fresco in progress and completed. I know this is off-topic - I promise not to "wander" anymore! Sharon |
