I would like tips on dealing with acrylic paints' color shift as they dry.
Esepecially the issue of having to mix colors to match the already dried color on the canvas to rework some areas or to go back on a painting later. If the new mix of color- when it is wet- looks like the exact same color on the canvas you are matching to , will dry darker upon drying, what do you do about it ?

I think a thread on this issue is going to be a great help for acrylicists.

You hit upon the biggest problem of all with acrylics. My answer.. It can't be done. There is no way I can rely on making the same color the second time.
Finish each section so when you work on that section again you are working with another color. Or repaint the whole area again.

That is a fantastic reply...now i do not have to try figuring it out..i am at peace.
The suggestion to finish each section or repaint the whole area is really appreciated.

The addition of white to the to the base color makes the biggest difference and it's impossible to judge how much lighter the next color should be to make then match up.

I think mixing more amount of color and saving them in a small jar at the end of each session, till i am completely surely done with the painting, can be a good idea.

That will work, sometimes I make a big pile of the original color and work with that but that's as far as I will go.
