Title: Using Acyrlics on Masonite
Post by myartic on Dec 14th, 2004 at 6:21pm
Recently I did my first painting on prepared masonite. I was amazed at the difference this surface makes. The paints seem to flow on and blend readily. I am looking forward to doing more painting on this surface. Try it and let me know what you think. :D

I'm sorry I lost your attachment Myartic, It happened when I changed ISP's 10-1-6

Hot pressed maconite was the first great painting support. I used it for 10 years. I changed to 1/8 plywood with a linen on top because of the weight. I carry all my stuff in a van to have it all with me all the time. Weight matters to me.

I'm originaly from Trenton NJ, happy holidays.

PS
Do you know horses well or did you copy a photo?

Nancy
Thank you for the complement. I have been painting horses most of my life. This painting was inspired by a picture I saw on a gift bag.
I do animal portraits and show my art at local shows, where I have won several awards. I mostly paint in acrylics because it dries so fast and I can get the portrait to the owner that much sooner.
Happy holidays and happy painting! Sharon

Great work. Your love of animals shows through in these portraits.
I especially like the work done on the cat. Very nice.

Yes I think they are beautiful paintings.
I love painting on Masonite.
In fact I prefer it - however lately I have had to use canvas so that it can be rolled and mailed.
