It's good that you didn't try to remove the sand while it was wet, it's much easier when it's dry.
A lot of power there Bob, check the horizon line, it should curve. The higher you go the more it curves.

Mettam's Pool 5"x9" completed in 1.5 hrs. It quite quite hot and as you can probably see, sand and dust blew into the wet paint

...
