Evolution of Color Wheel Theory
Color theory is a formal representation of how colors are mixed together and how they interact. Although it was said that it existed in the earliest days, the said study was credited to Isaac Newton and continues with the work of Itten and Don Jusko. Leonardo Da Vinci's notes have shown his discovery of the premise. But the majority of color theorists have pointed to Isaac Newton as the main developer of the principle. His study reveals the phenomenon of colorsin the late 1660s. He then experimented with elements of light and that resulted in his color theory in 1672.
Newton's premise of color reveals that objects possess a definite hue due to their absorption and reflection of various wavelengths of light. His color wheel chart demonstrated that Red, Yellow and Blue are primaries. Those were the most obvious colors from a prism. No one had interceded Newton's system until Johann Wolfgang Goethe came along. In 1810, he pursued the emotional impact of color to people. He, as a scientist and a writer as well, reformulated the premise of the system in a new way. Based on his hypothesis, color variables are affected by light and a person's perception.
Another popular artist in color history was Johannes Itten, a Swiss painter. As Newton lead to the discovery of the premise, Itten followed it with his development.
