Don
Love the apple stack.  Your progression of warm colors on the smallest, top apple, to the coolest, larger, bottom apple is very fragrant and refreshing - not to mention couriously interesting!

No new plans, just distroy the old and make a landing dock for the tourists...
The painting is on 22x30, the mast is perhaps 1/2 " at the base, the lines, a single stoke with a #1 rigger brush. Round furrel long hair, flat at the end. You just can't seem to buy those brushes anymore.

I was asking the thickness of the lines for the mast, spars and rigging in your painting not the ship. Sorry for confusion.

Such a shame that it was dismantled. Is there plans to rebuild it somewhere.?

Hi Johnie,
They dismantled the ship after all these years the week after I painted it.
All the lines were at least 1". The main mast was at least a foot wide.
I will not hesitate to use a straight edge, it's the perfect curves that are hard.

On the last day I used the biggest brush. My #36 White sable Golith.

Hi Don

I really enjoyed reading the method of doing this painting on your website.  Such a great painting it is. I just love old ships . Use to sail them Radio Control.  Good old square riggers sure wish I could paint them. Thanks for doing that one.

Question..

How thick roughly would the spares and mast be and also the riging..   1/16"   1/8"     Thickness?

Also how do you get such perfectly straight lines on your painting. Do you use a straight edge of sorts?

I got your email at my yahoo email site thanks for reply.
