Painting on Location

Pictura Translucida

Transparent painting on shinny tin, aluminum or silver.

The setup and the first day's work, 7 hours.

picturatranslucida setup

1 hour, photographed with a dark background. If I were to do it over I would leave all the opaque white off the brass and the green pear and use transparent pigment.

Photographed with the sky as the background. This shows how transparent the paint is. Notice how dark the white pigment is compared the reflection of the sky.

The red pear's reflection clean.

Two days on location, it should have taken three days but my favorite mainland student had to return early. She had gone through a lot time and work gathering #10 gauge shinny aluminum panels. It's not easy here on an island. Because of her work we now have an Ace Hardware Store that carries metal aluminium sheets.
