Maui Coloring Book Cover, rag paper, hand separated 4 color. I couldn't afford an 11x14 color cover so spent 500 pointillistic hours making the primary serigraph color plates. This was back in 1983 when all yellow ink was opaque. It wasn't until I made a transparent yellow ink for my Roland giclee printer in 2009 and printed my Real Color Wheel with these three perfect triad colors that were all permanent and transparent water based inks. The same pigments that I paint with are now inks. In 1983 acrylic paints didn't have a transparent yellow yet either. Xerox is king today, inkjets are the printing wave of the future. 2009. |
